#MomentsOfBeauty in #Glasgow: I love the junction between architect William Leiper’s Venetian Gothic facade of 1889 and architect George Boswell’s 1938 SE range at Templeton Carpet Factory. Though stylistically different, both are virtuoso examples of polychromatic brickwork 🥰!

Good article by Mark Smith: It may be time to admit the truth about the A9 | The Herald. Why isn’t Scotland grown up enough to realise projects have a point where the costs aren’t justified by the benefits.

A new low for Edinburghs Princes Street as even Poundland bugs out. This epic mismanagement of an urban space with stunning views and one time architectural character (largely gone but not forgotten). Hopefully, a new era but not sure the council has the vision or resources.

A beautiful example of advocacy affecting action, the idea was first dreamed up by activists in 2011; who then formed a broad coalition around it. They garnered popular support and €700,000 in funding in the 2017 Citizens' Budget, and construction was finally completed in 2023.

There is at least ONE area where the UK is world-beating: the cost of our power. Acc to new figs, UK has highest industrial power prices in the developed world👇 A key part of the explanation for why we deindustrialised faster than anyone (another thing we're world-beating at)

Demanding that ever increasing funds are allocated to road building whilst criticising investment in public transport is part of why we have transport inequalities across the UK. This ethos is why Winchburgh train station still does not exist, and why residents living in

These are desperately needed in Scotland - but insanely, @transcotland won't support a trial of them. Is there a cheaper, more cost-effective way to encourage people to walk?? @FionaHyslop @LStreetsScot @TransformScot

Good news for pedestrians from @CityWestminster: a trial of side-road zebra crossings is underway. People on foot already have priority over vehicles at side roads, but these road markings will remind everyone of what it says in the Highway Code

A glimpse of the mess created when the M8 was driven through Cowcaddens in the late '60s and early '70s. I've marked Stow College as a point of reference. Pic from #Glasgow Motorway Archive.
