Christ…pictured to His disciples…the judgment day…He represented its decision as turning upon one point. When the nations are gathered…their eternal destiny will be determined by what they have done or have neglected to do for Him in the person of the poor and the suffering

I'm biased in thinking this is a good prescription for happiness, in that its pretty much the way I've lived my life.

It's impossible to look at problems and for solutions at the same time. Quiet the noise in your brain. Prime your thinking to look for solutions. Then get out of the way.

"I grew up in a home with mental illness. Reality could sometimes become distorted, creating an unstable environment. At a young age, I learned to counter false narratives with the facts—a gift I still use today in preaching. Of all people, a Bible preacher understands the rush

Exercise is a celebration of your abilities, not a punishment for what you ate. It's not a way to earn food. It's not penance for the weekend. It's not the price you pay for living. Exercise is how you build a body that can meet life on your terms. It's how you stay strong

So true. Visited Auschwitz yesterday. One of the tactics was to keep assuring people they will be taken care of. Leave your belongings here. You’ll get the after the shower. Your life is yours. Make it count.

The Talmud says explicitly “The righteous of all nations have a place in the world to come.” (San 105a with parallels in Tosefta, Sifre etc.) Jews never believed righteousness or salvation was an exclusively Jewish attribute. I hope your tradition can say the same.

This shabbes we bless the new month. We say the prayer when the sky is dark, knowing the light of the moon will come. In dark times we have faith in the coming light.

Christians do not call burial places “necropolises”, that is, “cities of the dead”, but “cemeteries”, which literally means “sleeping places”, places where one rests, awaiting the resurrection.

The first description the Lord God gave of himself in the divine disclosure of Exodus 34:6 was “compassionate.” Our capacity for compassion comes from being created in the image of God. It is not meant to be politicized, exploited, mocked, sold or regarded as weakness. Guard it.

Sometimes it feels like we are just trying to get through the day. Finish the quarter or hit the next goal. Then, only then, you finally feel peace. Or joy. Or purpose. You’re not alone. I’ve lived that way too. A few years ago, my wife, Ester, and I walked 100 miles across

An alleged son of God, who couldn't save himself, and required his followers to pick up their cross, was hardly an attraction to society in his day. Or today.

At the cross, the symbolic cup of Gethsemane is made real, and the real cup of the last supper is made symbolic.
