The Govt have been warned for *years* that their failure to act could cost jobs and rail manufacturing in the North East. With a stroke of a pen @Mark_J_Harper could vary the existing contracts and give the manufacturers the certainty needed to safeguard jobs. Why won't he?

Thanks for continuing to cover this @ITVJoel π two year after disgracefully and illegally sacking and replacing 786 seafarers with agency workers .. paid less than the minimum wage, forced to work 17 weeks without a break and the UK government still refuses to act!
Franceβs Maritime Minister says itβs βdangerousβ and βnot moralβ for P&O to ask crew to work for 17 weeks without a day off. The law in France now limits the time crew can work to 2 consecutive weeks. P&O Ferries hasnβt responded but has said previously its crew are well-rested
