Academic Twitter folks, serious question: Why aren't we moving to Reddit? It has customizable feeds, follow individual users, community moderation tools, all the stickers, an API, same corp as Vogue & the New Yorker... A few solid communities already there, like AskHistorians

Is Twitter failing? What does failure look like? Right now, it's an absurdist spectacle made for Rome. Here are some reflections on past social media/org failures and what they might teach us about the current situation: https://t.co/zExYbownni

Helpful takeaway from Sally Brown and Kay Sambell's highly entertaining workshop on #AuthenticAssessment. Also loved their handout of example alternative outputs. #Assessment2023

Interesting to hear this argument (paraphrased) βWe need to move on from one grade per module to one grade per learning outcome.β In general there seems to be conflicting perspectives in contemporary TL&A discussions, regarding more vs less assessment.
What are the purposes of assessment? Prof David Boud of @Deakin & Prof @gmoneill2 discuss the role of assessment in: ensuring learning outcomes are met, enabling students to use information to aid learning & building student capacity to assess their own learning #Assessment2023

Conferences continue to be the only draw for me to professional twitter anymore (in the Musk era). If anything, I'm increasingly ambivalent, and looking forward to a post-Twitter conference networking landscape.

Prof Marie Clarke @ucddublin notes the important role played by external forces on assessment - among these faculty sense of identity & expectations of accrediting bodies - and the need for a holistic approach to assessment that takes into account their impact. #Assessment2023

As I'm at a conference on assessment in the Irish Higher Ed context, very funny to see this tweet come in from an old college friend in the US.
My son just told me he has a physics teacher whose grading system entails letting the kids decide what their grade is and he gave himself a B+. I mean, I guess Iβm proud of him for being honest, but Iβm also thinking I should get a paternity test done? Say A+ and cash the check!

Impressive lightning talk by Alisson Farrell on Maynooth University's Assessment and Feedback Hub. Designed for the Irish educational context, but plenty of resources here for those beyond our shores. #Assessment2023

Impressive turnout and venue for today's @QQI_connect conference on institutional assessment practices. Great that we're including student voice in the discussion today.
