We are finding more and more cases of super exploitation of migrant care workers. We need local authorities to get ahead of the curve and stop spending public money on organisations that are profiting out of exploiting migrant care workers.
“The government doesn’t understand social care. If ministers had even a basic grasp of the sector, they would have reformed it long ago. But instead, the inept approach to the awarding of care visas has given dodgy employers total freedom to exploit overseas staff at whim."

NEW: An Oxford-led study has found that virtually all care homes forced to close in England by the Care Quality Commission are run on a for-profit basis. Of all the involuntary closures since 2011, 804 out of 816 occurred in for-profit care homes. More info ⬇️

Cash-strapped local authorities have been pushed ever closer to the edge by spiralling care costs. The blame for the crisis in care lies entirely with the government. Ministers have failed to ensure council funding bears any relation to the harsh economic reality.
