This is awful. They kicked ppl out of their homes when they couldn’t pay overly inflated property taxes. But now that Detroit admits it got it wrong, the city says it can’t pay them back for the huge mistake it made.
In the years following the 2008 recession, a staggering 1 in 4 Detroit homes were foreclosed on for failure to pay property taxes. The city freely admits many of those homes were illegally overvalued, which has many residents fighting for compensation. @TrevorLAult reports.
