Please come along to our Asian hornet awareness session on March 16th. This invasive species has made it to Britain and threatens the health of our ecosystems. A single nest can devour 12kg of insects in a single year and the impact on our pollinators could be huge!

Our country is one of the most nature depleted in the world. Now it is under even more pressure. The Asian Hornet, an invasive species, is becoming established and threatens the health of our insect populations, pollination services and honey bee economies. Pls spread the word

A lovely image captured by one of our members @KyleRiley23 of one of our association training apiaries, submitted to the UCL geog deptβs research images competition. I wonder what these three beekeepers are talking aboutβ¦ Stores, brood, the June gap? One can only imagine.
'Hive Mentality' by @kyleriley23 MSc student Kyle Riley asks the question 'how far does the hive mentality among British hobbyist beekeepers extend and what can we learn from alternative methods of beekeeping'? Part of the UCL Geography #ResearchImages Competition

Catching fish using heavy nets that drag across the seabed - known as bottom trawling - emits about the same amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) globally as the aviation industry.

Commercial fishing by so-called bottom trawling could emit as much CO2 as air travel, a study argues.
