I've coached dozens of world-class athletes. You know what matters most when helping the best of the best? It isn't actually about the gadgets, cutting-edge supplements, special workouts, fancy protocols, or even the final 1%... It's preventing them from doing dumb things.

Absolutely. Clarity = investigations by independent trauma sensitive experts in covert & overt emotional, physical & sexual abuse, w input from both current & former players. Transparency protects players from NWSL to youth. ⬇️ @NWSL abuse prevention https://t.co/S6UsluwUCs
@thereal_icarly @rdkinder14 @NWSLtoughconvos @benjmorey @TheNCCourage I would love to speak about this in person and I am happy to do so. My point is either. You fire someone and thank them for their service so they can go on with their career. OR you investigate properly and there is transparency for all. I am still holding out for clarity.

Better to teach them a mistake ritual, to respond (vs. react) in difficult circumstances-- making a mistake, bad ref call, a teammate making a mistake, a tough loss, an unsupportive comment from a parent RESILIENCE (the ability to bounce back) IS a TRAINABLE soccer skill,
If you are the coach subbing kids out for making a mistake, stop. This is counterproductive on so many levels. #TOVO

Love this!!! Would add work on your mental game. Learn to "have your feelings without your feelings having you" to respond rather than react in challenging moments, lift up your teammates, practice self-compassion, and FIND FLOW.
Tomorrow, thousands of young women will report for the official start of their college soccer preseason, many for the first time. Here are my top pieces of advise for Freshmen: Make a big effort to get to know the upperclassmen. They are not as intimidating as it seems. Some

Thanks @ClemsonUniv @ClemsonTigers @ClemsonGym. You erred hiring Smith & your next actions = best practices in abuse prevention Post actionable policies Understand emotional abuse Act on anonymous athlete surveys Listen to & believe athletes Fire abusive coaches @NCAA pay attn.
Why Clemson fired Amy Smith as gymnastics coach in April | The State …violated clauses regarding “safe and responsible treatment” of athletes, including “physical and/or emotional abuse of student athletes,” and “personal conduct.”
