In the early hours of June 18th, William O’Reilly Werry came into our lives. A very special Father’s Day this year for Dave! Thank you for all the love and support. We love him so much and are so excited to see him take on the world!
On the day before the opening of the 2019 NWSL season, I would like to share that this will be my last season as professional player! It’s been a long and beautiful ride. More goodbyes can come after the season. Until then, we have work to do! See you at the stadium!

Props to anyone who took a penalty kick. Whether they made it or missed it. I didn’t want to take one in 2011 World Cup final. And it is one of the biggest regrets of my football career. Life is about trying. And going again.
I will never forget halftime of the 2015 final. We went into the locker room and I whispered to Carli. “Dude, you just scored a hat trick in a World Cup final. And one was from midfield. What in the actual…” She smiled and then her eyes got serious again. An absolute beast.
Breaking: Carli Lloyd has announced her retirement.
U.S. Soccer will soon announce four fall friendly matches, which will be her final games for the USWNT. She’ll finish the NWSL season with NJ/NY Gotham FC.
Clearly I’m very excited about this. 🥳My buddy, my lil sis of 20 years is now a Gunner. She’s supported Arsenal since she was a kid. And now we can say we’ve traveled the road of PDA/UNC/USWNT/the Arsenal!!!!! So proud of you. The yin to my yang. Leggo

So I did a thing on Friday night. Jack Werry entered the world at 8:33 pm at 6 lbs 15 ounces. I am feeling great and very thankful! Grateful for wonderful docs and nurses and family and friends. Jack, you are very loved already. Welcome to the party. 👶🏼🥰
I was 14 years old when this happened. It literally changed my life and how I saw myself. Competitive, confident and hard working became ok and I didn’t have to hide it anymore.
In light of Heather O'Reilly coming out of retirement, she is no longer eligible to appear on the Player Ballot for the 2023 election.
All of us at the National Soccer Hall of Fame would like to wish Heather good luck as she continues her professional career with Shelbourne!
As I have said before, this goal speaks to the amount that
@TobinHeath
has rounded out her game and can now be considered a top player in the world. Speed and power, good decision making, and makes this difficult finish look easy. A world class goal.
I know yesterday was a disappointing day for
@Arsenal
as a football club. However,
@ArsenalWFC
qualified for champions league this season which is not an easy task in this league. Shout out to my former teammates and mates. Well done. 👏🏻💪🏻
Besides the fact that
@TobinHeath
is my bud, she just demonstrated how she has separated herself with three plays. Her speed and cross off the pen rebound. The lifted final ball. Then the ruthless finish of her own. Her game has rounded out and she is now one of the worlds best.
"This is my charge to everyone. We have to be better. We have to love more, hate less. We've got to listen more and talk less. We've got to know that this is everybody's responsibility."
What. A. Speech.

1) I am only speaking for myself on this tweet and no one else. I am part of the Athlete Council. In 2017, we decided as a group, to vote for Carlos, to take over. There was a lot of promises and hope for change. The current released statements have shown my error in judgement
I went to the University of North Carolina as an 18 year old kid with a dream. 15 years later, around the world and back again, I’m playing in this place again and couldn’t be happier. Home.
“I ask everyone lend your platform to other people, lift other people, share your success. We have a unique opportunity to use this beautiful game to change the world for the better. Do something. Do anything.” - Megan Rapinoe ❤️
FIFA prize money calculations can and will be debated. Commercial revs income can and will be debated. TV ratings and sponsership can and will be debated. But to read that
@ussoccer
thinks this of the
@USWNT
and female athletes in general is disgusting and disturbing to me
People doubted earlier that US Soccer was actually arguing that women are inherently inferior to men as part of the federation's attempt to prove it isn't discriminating against the USWNT based on gender.
So here are some court filing excerpts where they do just that:
Reading this over again and loving it. The difference between the US and generally other teams is the ability to embrace an uncomfortable intensity.
@mPinoe
and I used to say, let’s get weird! Let’s get weird= it is about to get real hard but that’s ok, let’s roll.
#USWNT
Here’s a laugh if you feel like you’ve had a weird day....My dog is so jealous of the baby and all the attention he gets so this is what she did today.
I wish I could say something profound. But I have walked around with tears in my eyes all day, unable to do much. I promise to do more to make this soccer community healthier. But today, I am sad.
Was able to finally watch the
@USWNT
game tonight. My thoughts are these: 1) a lot of respect for
@KristieMewie
- went to Germany, Japan, and around the NWSL in order to chase her dreams and reach her potential. Really great story for all.
I’m a proud American. I also think there are things that we need to improve here. My family comes from Ireland originally. Three separate yet true statements that I just wanted to share ❤️🇺🇸
I have a job posting for you all.
@ussoccer
needs a new CEO immediately. Last person earned 900k+. I guarantee you a stressful yet important and fulfilling job for a organization that can greatly improve. Great candidates please apply.
The draft is exciting and very American. But it would be really awesome if the NWSL had the guts to just simply…get rid of the draft and let players decide their career and employer!?
I have been on a lot of teams. World Cup teams. Olympic teams. Club teams. This team worked hard and was more positive and together than I can ever remember. A real honor to be part of it Ps - winning is fun.
If I was a 16-25 year old male striker in America, I would shoot 250 shots a week, work my ass off, watch clips every week, and put myself in the best position to impact that front line in front of our home fans in 4 years.
Main takeaways from the
@USWNT
match…. 1) I dislike the new kits. 2) Press has been unreal. Best player player on the field again for me. 3) I am very proud of Lynn Williams, and I hope she is as well. Made a statement about why she can be a valuable super sub for the US
I am a proud Gooner. Also a white American. So maybe this isn’t my lane. Not sure. But the lack of diversity makes me sad. I hope to continue to see all of North London represented some day.
FIFA to "significantly increase" prize money for Women's World Cup, details to be finalized at end of October. Also slated to fund business class travel for some teams
#WWC
Fucking sad that some of the best players in Spain are not there. I hope one day we know the whole story as it is hard to comment or speculate on limited information. But it’s a bummer, and must have been bad.
Cleaning out my parents house is a trip down memory road to the max. Check out this journal entry from 2004 Olympics. Hilarious for so many reasons.

It’s a different view for me this World Cup with
@FOXSports
, but the passion is the same. Maybe even greater, because I have a broader view of it all. I am so incredibly proud of the
@USWNT
and wish them the very best tonight in Le Clash. Sending so much love and good vibes.
