I can tell you from 2 decades working in NFPs that the charitable sector isn't funded by billionaires, it's funded by ladies called Dorothy in their 80s. It isn't the rich who support the poor, it's the poor. And that's where progressive taxation comes in. #auspol

Won't someone please think of the billionaires!! Why should they pay tax when there's a perfectly good system of 'the poors' begging them for money? #auspol

It’s very funny that Trump sent troops into Portland because someone showed him footage from the 2020 protests and told him it was current day and now troops are faced with this

The Mutual Obligations system is: -operating unlawfully -not getting ppl jobs (according to Labor's own recent inquiry) -costing us $4b a year to run -punishing ~50% of the cohort (disproportionately First Nations ppl, homeless ppl, & ppl with a disability) simply abolish it

Easily the best and most Australian analogy ever. Shutting down a racist at the same time is just the cherry on top.

Advance discovering the failure of neoliberal corporate welfare was not something I expected to happen this week lol - wonder if this means they’ll pivot to supporting the nationalisation of industry

Our research shows the Aust govt MUST worry about the collapse of trust in institutions. We're already seeing the consequences re rise of far right around the world. Here, super fund collapses are key examples re why. Govt NEEDS to make whole those affected by scams. See below.

In these apocalyptic times, a little project I'm working on with 2 of my favourite people: @SonyaSemmens & Lerna G makes it all seem a little bit better. We ask, when the 1st City falls, what does the 2nd City look like? L*nk below (bc El*no's wrecked this place).

This remains the biggest, unspoken scandal in Australian politics, btw 224, 960 payment suspensions were issued against disadvantaged cohorts in the last quarter. The Department's (outsourced) assurance review couldn't provide assurance that any of these punishments are lawful

incredible scenes in the unlawful mutual obligations system The Employment Secretary, who used to be a Partner at Deloitte, contracted them to provide assurance that the system operates in line w/ the law Deloitte's report couldn't provide it so the department tried to bury it

Your regular reminder that every year the Australian people subsidise private schools to the tune of $22 billion while the public school down the road from you will be waiting another decade for its bare minimum funding.

A new Resolve poll shows 76% of working Australians support a 4-day work week while maintaining pay levels.  It’s been over 40 years since Australia’s last reduction in working hours — our society has changed, it’s time working hours reflected that.

At least eight federal ministers, senior ministerial advisers and at least one state premier have taken up roles promoting gambling too. Labor and the Coalition should represent us before party 'donors'. Vote for the party that doesn't take corporate bribes 💚
