Ruskin Spear's portrait is of Sir Robin Darwin, the great-grandson of Charles Darwin who as principal in the 1950s made the Royal College of Art a leading force in arts education and changed the image and fortunes of the Royal Academy. He was also a fine landscape painter.

5) I agree with @StuartLock on the framing of the proposal: https://t.co/Oo9NjejB7h It assumes that all students already have fixed interests that education should cater to, rather than shape.

This has been annoying me a lot but I couldn't really express why. Then a friend said "it's because it takes enjoyment as an input, not an output". And that's it: enjoying a subject is a long-term entitlement, not a method. Sometimes important things are not enjoyable.

I'm reposting my own post here to highlight: 1. that @secondtierpod have not a scooby about this league & 2. the utterly marvellous job Mark Robins has done in turning round this underperforming juggernaut of a club, to make us genuine promotion contenders. We have our Stoke back

If there is a single view that shows up @secondtierpod for what they are it is the one about Mark Robins in the summer. Apparently he was a broken man, a busted flush, no good without Adi Viveash, unable to stop the rot at Stoke.

Mubama’s movement for his first goal, wow. Watch how he fakes the defender and then switches his run. This is the sign of a striker who can get 20 goals this season if fed enough. Top class.

A pictures worth a 1000 words, right? But when words and pictures pull in different directions, learning falls apart. My latest piece looks at where dual coding goes wrong and how to make visuals actually help students think. Link below…

3pts! They all count no matter how you get them, but that was an increasingly tough watch from a Stoke viewpoint. We let a very poor Pompey team trouble us far more than they should have & it took an OG to win the game. Ugly wins will do, but we must address our scoring issues.
