Just added my 5 star review.
A lot of memoirs have something worth saying ..but say it poorly. Rob's writing has a Hemingway quality to it in brevity and focus.
He puts the reader right there with him...vivid, and totally worth the journey.
After 9 days "Troubled" has 4.9 stars with 196 reviews. So far my wish for my book to outperform my uber rating has come true:

Those dads who can't get their kids to connect probably spent the first 9 years ignoring them, and would now rather blame the PlayStation 5 than face the fact that they did
All my dad friends with 10-18 year old sons can’t get them to do anything with them.

My dad was supposed to be dead of spinal cancer by Halloween.
Turns out he was misdiagnosed.
Just a crushed vertebrae.
Surgery done, he's fine.
I see people complain about the dumbest things.
After this year,

Lost a great-grandma, killed by a bull.
Great aunt who's neck was broken by PTO of the tractor.
Great uncle in a tractor rollover, before roll bars.

My dad is in Houston, at the top cancer hospital in the world.
Diagnosis went from...pretty much no hope...to he's got a good shot at beating this thing.
Thankful to God.
Grateful for those from Twitter space who emailed me while I was on a break.

I've been helping him out a bit, when I can.
He's got a lot of mental illness stuff going on that needs a case worker...but I can be a friend and buy him a meal, give him some warm clothes...I just can't be his caseworker.

Got laid off from Commercial Real Estate/Private Equity in March.
Had a very cool job/title.
I think many former coworkers felt bad for me.
