I am very happy to share that I am joining the Sorbonne University as an Econ Prof. I am extremely grateful to everyone that made this possible, above all my parents.

The academic system is cratering. Grades are inceasingly disconnected with performance or knowledge.
One of the Harvard report’s most compelling findings is that students almost universally speak about grades in terms of how much effort they put in. If they spend a lot of time studying and do all of the work asked of them, they believe, they should get an A.

It's time to remove laptops from classrooms. 24 experiments: Students learn more and get better grades after taking notes by hand than typing. It's not just because they're less distracted—writing enables deeper processing and more images. The pen is mightier than the keyboard.

Also, I use the good old blackboard quite a lot. Helps to slow down the pace of the lecture to a speed where students can actually take notes. With slides, we often rush way too much.

Not sure whether this is real or fake, but I somehow manage to get most of my students off their laptop in class. How? - In lecture 1, I show evidence that laptops are not great for learning. Goal is to convince, not impose. - I post slides *after* class. Very few complain..

Econ seminar culture is built on the assumption that the audience knows something that the speaker doesn't, and that the speaker values that information. A very important thing the audience knows and the speaker doesn't: Is the speaker making any sense at all? If nobody has any

I often work with young researchers who don't convert R&Rs to publications. I definitely don’t do everything well! But I put a lot of effort into this and have a 24/24 conversion rate. So I am passing along six tips based upon my experience as an author and editor. #Econtwitter

Steve Bannon insists that Donald Trump will be president again for a third term in 2028—and that America needs him to. Mr Bannon, one of the chief architects of the MAGA movement, spoke to Zanny Minton Beddoes, our editor-in-chief, and Ed Carr, our deputy editor, in Washington,

🎙️ @frvignolle 💻 @lenoblevincent

The speed at which Poland is catching up with the UK is truly remarkable. Yet another example that political choices have real consequences, and that bad policies hurt. More here:

When it comes to investment, particularly in its regions, perhaps Britain is the country that needs to keep up
Given the self-inflicted accelerating crisis in the UK and forecasted continued growth in Poland, it won’t take long for Poland to catch up. It feels much better to be in a country where things improve each year, and which has low crime rates. Where would you prefer to live?

The pride seems misplaced to me. The last Economics Nobel to someone with a PhD from a (now) EU country was Selten, who shared the 1994 prize. His PhD is from 1961. It shouldn't be a source of pride that Europeans had to emigrate for the past 80 years to put themselves on the
Congratulations to Philippe Aghion on receiving the Nobel Prize in economics. A proud moment for Europe and a strong reminder that innovation and openness are the foundations of our shared prosperity. Philippe’s contributions helped shape Mario Draghi’s vision for European

Outstanding news for Europe. Clearly, Switzerland is in the game. The UK is in the game. Why does the European Union keep missing the opportunity the US President is gifting us to recruit the best researchers in the world? (By the way, China too is using this chance to the max)

Oh no! There won't be enough wealth managers who will charge 1% to put all your money in a diversified index fund.
McKinsey estimates that we are about to enter a massive shortage of wealth management advisors in this country With the looming retirement boom and one of the largest transfers of wealth in history through inheritance, younger folks are simply not ready to manage these assets
