AI slop turned Facebook into an anaerobic lagoon of botshit, the laziest, grossest engagement bait, much of it from rise-and-grind spammers who consume get rich quick "courses" and churn out a torrent of "shrimp Jesus" and fake chainsaw sculptures: https://t.co/NxsYuVfDcm 16/

The paper we have been waiting for essentially shows that #timeseries #llms do not work in forecasting. Back in 2022, paper “Are Transformers Effective for Time Series Forecasting?“ challenged the appearing narrative that transformers are useful for forecasting. By removing

Models are not dangerous. Models trained wxth more FLOPs or parameters are not inherently more dangerous. *Systems* built using models are dangerous in proportion to the amount of power they have over peoples' lives, with absolutely no connection to how "powerful" the model is.

This interesting thread swerves into eugenics at the end - the explanatory variable here is going to be culture not genes.

The Chinese Communist Revolution consolidated its power by taking land from the elite. In the following generation, the previous elite once again reclaimed their social advantage. This is not an isolated phenomenon: A Thread on the persistence of status 🧵

Tried to listen to an O'Reilly book on building data intensive applications and had to abandon it for asinine tedium - like an introductory lecture phoned in by a bored and overconfident lecturer - People could crash cars falling asleep to this.

Today's Twitter threads (a Twitter thread). NOTE: I DID NOT BUY A BLUE-TICK. IT WAS NONCONSENSUALLY ADDED TO MY ACCOUNT. Inside: Boeing's deliberately defective fleet of flying sky-wreckage; and more! Archived at: https://t.co/9oQDp3Z7DP #Pluralistic 1/

It's like if someone was really impressed by my Stephen Hawking impression, so they decided to fire Stephen and have me take all his teaching and speaking and writing gigs instead (because cheaper!). Except I don't know anything he knows. My entire skill was copying him.

So much implicit work being done by "generate" here. The entire multicultural life-world fractionally equivocated with the monopolistic mass production of sequential linguistic probabilities. When the #AI bubble bursts it will be known as derivative AI.
