I want to create a repository of some of the more relevant threads I've created over the years all in one easier-to-find spot, so here you go. Thread-ception. A thread of threads. For all your privacy, law, tech, and terrible movie needs.

Having a child means watching/rewatching a lot of children's media and conclusions thus far:. Bluey: cinematic masterpiece, utter delight, is this therapy.Lilo and Stitch (animated): this is so goddamn cute and I love Nani.Cocomelon: send it back to hell from whence it came.

"Why isn't she replying to my comment on the thread that immediately got out of control?". Beloved, I mute those things the second they cross a few hundred likes, the kinds of responses I get would make any of us walk directly into traffic.

These things are not just stealing art and data, killing the environment, replacing workers, and perpetuating scams. They're actively exacerbating mental health problems, in sometimes fatal ways.

If you want some examples of how much AI actively plays into this, here are some examples (read at your own risk and PLEASE don't go make fun of these people in the forum, I am genuinely worried about them).

This is an ongoing problem and we're going to see it more and more unless there is a very serious technical and sociological change around AI.

Many aren't as lucky. There have been multiple examples where people took their own life or were killed because of AI-fueled psychosis.

There are some genuinely heartbreaking examples of this (though this article includes an encouraging story of someone breaking out of it).

GAI is often sycophantic users like it more when it agrees with and bolsters them. People like AI that disagrees with them less. So the "you're so brilliant" AI is born. Here's a psychiatrist with a great thread on how this works and what he's seen.

I’m a psychiatrist. In 2025, I’ve seen 12 people hospitalized after losing touch with reality because of AI. Online, I’m seeing the same pattern. Here’s what “AI psychosis” looks like, and why it’s spreading fast: 🧵

Very seriously, AI is breaking people's minds. It is actively harming people. The AI companies know this, but they keep making money, so who cares, I guess. A quick thread on AI psychosis.

Here, I'll help with slogans:. "Fascism is lit"."Everyone already hates you - may as well get paid for it"."Come work for slimier Nosferatu"."Time to savor harassing neighbors"."In the unmarked people-snatching van, we all fam (except for the snatchees)".

You would think "it's health data, so it's protected by HIPAA," but you would be incorrect. It is not. And this not only vastly increases the likelihood of your health data being breached, but opens the possibility of using it for ads, sharing with employers, insurers, etc.

Problem: people use AI for things like therapy or legal advice, not understanding it's not confidential. Logical answer: warn people (in interviews, the AI, etc.) that nothing is confidential and not to use it that way. Sam's answer: AI should get attorney-client privilege.

If you want context (you don't, it's Twitter, but I'm giving it anyway), I'm a privacy and human rights attorney with minors in philosophy and theology, overthinking (and highly sourced legal arguments) is kind of what I do, this was just a silly little tweet about a meme I saw.
