I started a substack because I heard from so many folks while campaigning that, while they didn't consider themselves to be super locally informed, they wanted to do better. So, I give you Out of Left Field! Hope you'll join along. https://t.co/toeF40IZDS

Apparently London Breed is mulling over jumping in the race for SF’s seat in Congress after Nancy Pelosi announced her retirement this week. This development could create an even more interesting (and complicated) field - especially if District 1 Supervisor Connie Chan (who is

Jackie is my city supervisor. This morning on our walk to school, my daughter and I walked past a half dozen unhoused people suffering from mental crises. I'm sorry for this cat. But it is absurd that Jackie is devoting energy to this accident given her responsibilities to her

The data is clear: Waymos are safer for everyone. While there may be other reasons to cautiously embracing AVs, the safety of those on SF’s roads, streets, and sidewalks shouldn’t be one of them.

San Francisco’s ideological leaders still don’t get it. Their job is to work on their Districts. Not affect state and federal policy. Some truly Oscar-worthy performances lately.
People are understandably upset that a Waymo killed a beloved bodega cat. But it’d be awesome to see people like Jackie Fielder talk about, let alone take the fentanyl, drug markets, and crime in her district as seriously as performing for the cameras. 🎥 @Scotty_Jacobs

Something’s Gotta Give features the classic moment, much deserved of an Oscar nomination, where Diane Keaton’s character is crying during a comical, bittersweet sequence because things are totally going wrong but it fuels her to continue writing her play. #DianeKeaton

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said Donald Trump should send the National Guard to SF ahead of Dreamforce next week, which is Salesforce’s massive global conference. And it’s completely hypocritical.

Marc Benioff gave the quote while flying to SF from Hawaii on his private jet. Need I say more? Absolutely despicable rhetoric from someone who backed the very ballot proposition that has contributed to many problems he now wants the National Guard to solve. Pathetic.

Rallying at the Hall of Justice this morning demanding that Judge Michael Begert not grant diversion for Troy McAlister, who killed Hanako Abe and Elizabeth Pratt and has racked up 91 felony charges over his career as a serial criminal in San Francisco. 🎥: @Scotty_Jacobs

I’m so sick of our electeds normalizing public drug use and then offering “thoughts and prayers” when someone gets shot asking a user to stop. In front of the library. Can we just take a step back for a second and acknowledge how absurd this entire situation is?

The kids and families of the Tenderloin deserve a neighborhood that is as safe, clean, and vibrant as any other part of SF. For too long, our elected officials have made empty campaign promises to those who call this neighborhood home. 🎥: @Scotty_Jacobs

Serious question for @bilalmahmood and @DanielLurie: if city contractors are being murdered in Civic Center for simply asking someone not to use drugs in front of the public library, why don’t you take immediate action to arrest and stop all public drug users? It isn’t simply an
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing yesterday of Urban Alchemy practitioner, and cherished friend to so many in our neighborhood, Joey Alexander. Joey was a beloved community member, dedicated to fostering peace and safety in our city, and he will be dearly missed. I

Aren’t 91 felony charges over the course of a criminal career enough to say that someone doesn’t deserve continued leniency? Troy McAlister has racked up a rap sheet with everything from armed robbery to murder when he killed Hanako Abe and Elizabeth Pratt on New Year’s Eve 2020.

It’s actually insane - the people who wrote a law now profit from it. Enough with this classically SF madness.
The same advocates who wrote our Surveillance Ordinance’s prevailing plaintiff attorneys’ fee-and-cost provision in 2019 are now suing to reap its financial benefits. It’s a “legislate-and-litigate” taxpayer shakedown — and I’m introducing legislation today to end it. (1/3)

We closed Market Street to cars, told everyone to take public transit to access Market Street, and then somehow began to normalize what would be considered intolerable disorder - especially at and around transit stops - in any other city.

We cannot end the addiction crisis without first disrupting the addiction on our streets. And if we don’t end the addiction crisis (especially as it impacts the recovery of our economic core), it threatens to upend San Francisco’s recovery.

The best way to accelerate downtown recovery is to accelerate the increasing foot traffic downtown. But without addressing disorder, people will (and do) feel unsafe going to our economic core, let alone relying solely on public transit to get there.
