Policy & Market Development @CleanCapital_. Energy nerd. Political junkie. Making American energy cleaner, faster. @SEIA & @Energy_Leaders alum. Views = my own.

I disagreed with Charlie Kirk on nearly every political issue — but he was a child of God. He was our sibling. Our brother. A human being endowed with infinite worth. Political violence has no place in America.

Regularly scaring people and exhibiting Intermittent Energy Derangement Syndrome while dismissing clean energy’s value to the grid is a failing model. But i agree energy dominance is about taking the conversation back to common sense, not fear mongering.
The model of scaring people through climate alarmism to justify low value, expensive electricity is a failing model. U.S. energy dominance isn’t just about producing the most energy in the world, but taking the conversation back to common sense, not fear mongering.

Exhibit A in the War on (Clean) Energy. Fueled by Intermittent Energy Derangement Syndrome. Amplified by political language designed to make lies sound truthful.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright: "With wind and solar, you don't know when they're gonna be there and when they're gonna go away. That's just not productive for the electricity grid. They end up just making the reliable stuff have to turn down when the wind is blowing, turn back up

What’s gas worth when valves freeze? What’s nuclear worth when cooling water is too hot or too low? What’s hydro worth in a drought? Every source of generation is weather-dependent. Some sources are contributing to fewer weather-related outages. Others are exacerbating them.
Wind and solar energy infrastructure is essentially worthless when it is dark outside, and the wind is not blowing.

Fact check: when thermal ramps down for renewables, your electricity prices go down. The Secretary is saying that given the choice between free fuel and expensive fuel, the grid should choose expensive fuel. Why is that?

Since this was posted, more solar energy has reached Earth than has been consumed in the history of civilization. Why is this Administration hindering our planet’s most abundant energy source?
Even if you wrapped the entire planet in a solar panel, you would only be producing 20% of global energy. One of the biggest mistakes politicians can make is equating the ELECTRICITY with ENERGY!

If we wrapped the entire planet in solar, we would produce more power in one HOUR than the world consumes in a YEAR. It's not either/or... its both/and.

This interview, which is also available to listen to as a podcast, provides a useful overview of some of the dangerous trends we’ve been seeing in recent months regarding federalization and militarization of state and local police functions.

Can we make DC safe again?
On 14th & R this morning in DC, officers with vests that said only police detained a man who seemed to have been riding a moped, taking him down as passerby screamed. Officers refused to say what agency they’re with. Their unmarked cars had Maryland plates. @washingtonpost

Just a casual few blocks from where I live in case you’re wondering how my DC neighborhood feels about our new Big Brothers
Situation in DC, on 14th St and W St. NW, with federal agents -- no agency ID'd -- pulling cars over for checks. They arrested a Black woman in this car. BIG crowd shouting at police. "Fuck you!" "What is wrong with you!" "You don't need to terrorize people like this!"

Thanks for admitting climate change is real. Now stop turning clean energy into a culture war while gutting private-sector solutions to the very challenge you just named. Clean energy isn’t partisan. Innovative solutions—not political theater—are how we overcome challenges.
Climate change is real, and it deserves attention. But it is far from the greatest threat facing humanity—that distinction belongs to global energy poverty. If we are trusting the science: climate change is a challenge, not a catastrophe.

I've been getting a lot of requests for comments on the DOE report "A critical review of the impact of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions on the U.S. climate". Here are some initial thoughts. More will come later.

Don’t think the discourse has caught up yet to the fact that since the reconciliation bill passed on July 4, the Trump admin has moved quickly to smother the wind and solar industries. The pace and intensity of anti-renewable policy has intensified *significantly* post-OBBBA.
The Trump Administration just issued a new order trying to kill solar and wind because they allegedly use too much land. But somehow this new fervor for "capacity density" won't apply to ethanol, which uses 100X as much land as solar per unit of energy. https://t.co/2plRo8ozXL

Wow. 12 GWs of natural gas plants have unplanned outages in Texas right now, more than twice the amount the grid is supposed to be able to handle. Batteries keeping the lights on as we speak.
And batteries reached their 2nd highlest output ever in Texas as the sun set. Prices remained 98% below the cap. ERCOT, in its own words, "assumes a total planned and unplanned thermal outage amount of 5,195 MW" in August. It's >12,000 right now. #txlege #txenergy

This would be a shocking and harmful action that will hurt vulnerable families who are struggling with rising energy costs. The Solar for All program has been embraced by both red and blue states and has so much promise. EPA should not do this. https://t.co/aAQnXJ31CI

If finalized, the move would escalate the Trump administration’s efforts to claw back billions of dollars in climate grants awarded under President Biden.

“Only 75 GW of that 450 — pedal to the metal —can be satisfied by gas. That leaves 375GW that have to be satisfied by something… if it’s not renewables, what is going to be?” Listen to America's largest energy producer explain why we need solar and storage.
