The best way to be authentic is to be vulnerable.

@jmattmiller in my mind, it's VERY difficult to ask students to find meaning in writing that you don't invest the time in reading/responding to yourself (and the last thing we want to do is empty even more meaning out of school when students already struggle with engagement and purpose)

I go back and forth on this a TON. When you "save time" with AI feedback, what are you really saving yourself from? (And is it important?) How do students feel when they show up as humans to do the work but the teacher doesn't? It's a careful, careful balance for sure.

A system I could not recommend more: taking a monthly "pulse check" survey: ☑️ how is this class going for you, 1-7? ☑️ what word best describes how you feel? ☑️ how is school going overall, 1-7? THEN bring the results back into the classroom to share with students + discuss!
