Really strong winds still gusting along the coast /north Leitrim. Power out in places today. We have no doubt more forestry downed. It is early for the storm season to begin. Little action or change from last Dec/Jan. Nothing on the windblow on our infrastructure by @MHealyRae ?

Really baffling why 🇮🇪 taxpayer funding from @DeptRCDG has to be provided to @coilltenews & others to repair storm damage. Surely commercial crops already funded by state grants and tax breaks should be fully and properly insured for losses and repairs?? Like all other businesses.

This is a bridge that is heavily used by forestry haulage and traffic as there is a lot of 🌲 clearfelling in the area. Wonder if the investors, timber intetest will be paying for the repairs or if they pay a bond or development charges for this use?

It certainly does and with a particularly high "export" demand at this time of year. Not sure of the carbon credentials, though. More like "smoke and mirrors" @MHealyRae

There is no criteria or assessment of community concerns in the afforestation licensing process by the Forest Service @agriculture_ie minister @MHealyRae ignores such concerns in favour of forestry owners, timber industry lobby & profits/ returns? .

Unsuitable and inappropriate plantation and there is no real mechanism for input or influence of @agriculture_ie on the licensing regarding community concerns & social issues. Local people who matter are excluded from the process. #communitiesnotconifers.

So this just shows the cumulative impact of too much bad forestry & the damage it did to the @ESBNetworks grid & other infrastructure. 4000 people .@MHealyRae @agriculture_ie @martinheydonfg. Most important to ensure that forestry 🌲 does no more harm now.

This is actually covered in the forest / timber certification standards under the "polluter pays" principle. "10.10.3.1 The Organisation engages & cooperates with local authorities in the event of damage to public road network or public infrastructure that results from forestry"

And do you know what @ESBNetworks is right. What isn't storm proof is all the cumulative plantation forestry licensed by @agriculture_ie @MHealyRae which is falling on the lines. Where were all the major outages? where there is too much 🌲🌲 @MHealyRae needs to sort it now.
