Neat discovery
It turns out that pseudouridines stabilize RNA markedly by having less nucleophilic 2'-OH groups - congrats to Dipanwita Banerjee on leading this work! https://t.co/p1Nb2tVm8r

Bahahaha
The editors at @Nature must be living in an alternate universe to think this is going to help the credibility of science in any way. Just say no.

Congrats #DasGuptaLab postdoc, Annyesha for winning the Fan Favorite Award at the annual Postdoc Lightning Talk competition organized by @NDscience. She won third place in last year’s competition presenting on a different project. It’s hard to break a habit!

This demonstration that RNA assembly can take place in the same environment that generates its substrates captures the messiness of early Earth environments more accurately.
pubs.rsc.org
Nonenzymatic assembly of RNA from chemically activated building blocks, such as phosphorimidazolides, would have been essential for the emergence of ribozymes on the early Earth. We previously showed...

New from the #DasGuptaLab @NDscience with the @SzostakLab @UChiChemistry! We solved an important problem in the origin of life by showing that prebiotic chemical conditions activate RNA and drive both enzyme-free and ribozyme-catalyzed RNA assembly in the same environment.
