I won the highest award in my program. Will this make my imposter syndrome finally go away or strengthen it?

I was thinking about how it is always our own loss to not know or feel a deep love. It is truly a loss for anyone who loses out on such love and knowledge, and the violence involved in keeping one from it. It really is a loss to not know of Karbala or to love Husain (ra).

about Karbala & imam Husain (ra) too. It feels like a robbery, a grave injustice to not have grown up with a love for the ahl bayt in this way. imam Hasan & Husain (ra) stayed children in my mind until I finally learned better, and realized why their age had been stunted for me.

Because I underwent English medium schooling, I lost out on Urdu literature. When Urdu literature finally became a part of my life, I felt as if I had been robbed of sth so beautiful and precious my whole life. Similarly, bec I grew up Sunni in a divided society, I feel this way.

at some point we have to look at this as and begin charging our governments with manslaughter. every life lost due to incompetence and negligence is a life that could have been saved. severe climate is a reality increasing in frequency; to not be prepared is our collective doom.

I come from a progressive school of thought that believes in action, and there is still so much that can be done to prevent the devastation that is yet to come.

These are completely misguided at best, or show a contempt for the life and livelihood of the average Pakistani at worst. Climate resilient planning needs to be the most urgent and national conversation. There is still much that can be done, or undone.

I wrote this article some time ago. Since then, destructive "development" projects like the cholistan canal project and attempts at reclaiming more wetlands for luxury waterfront developments have been set in motion.

Cities across Pakistan are extremely vulnerable to climate change, and we have felt only a glimmer of what that can mean. With responsible urban planning, we can save countless lives from some of the most severe consequences of climate change.
