🚨 We've decided to take a year out from our full Festival of Debate programme in 2026. But don’t worry – we’ll still be hosting six headline events that will welcome some of the most interesting and radical thinkers to Sheffield @nowthenmag have more ⬇️ https://t.co/cjtiuO5nbd

We have an exciting lineup of keynotes talks in 2026, but we’re taking time to think about how the festival can play a more active role in building the new systems that we urgently need.

Doesn't even make any fucking sense. That's British food, not "British values"...?
After filling this platform with the joy of eating his own cooked breakfast, @MikeTappTweets has got us all eating full English! British values 🇬🇧🇬🇧

What's really funny about this passage is that it makes it sound like they're in different parties. They're all in the Labour Party, which is also in government!

looooooool If you live in the north of England, this government just could not give less of a shit about you or your quality of life. They care even less than the last government! https://t.co/9FNmN4rf5Y

Really looking forward to hosting the discussion part of this – it's gonna be great! 👇 @PlutoPress
We live in a world where we have too much of what we don't need and too little of what we do – but it doesn't have to be this way 🌱 This Thursday, join us for an exciting conversation about Radical Abundance with @KeirMilburn. 🕖 7pm 📌 @theworkstation

The case against the 'Drax 15' has been thrown out of court, with the judge citing a lack of evidence. Now @reclaimthepower want to know why the police spent millions on the botched operation, which coincided with last year's far-right riots ✍️ @SamMGreg

love whenever some no mark westminster aide leaves their job, and all the lobby journos go 'wow. enormous loss. cannot be overstated how crucial No Mark was behind the scenes to the day-to-day running of this historically unpopular and functionally useless government" in unison

Very telling choice of words from @SteveReedMP. If you live outside London, what Team Starmer think about @AndyBurnhamGM is what they think about you as well: you don't matter, and your views aren't important. You're just regional.

Insightful as ever from @labourlewis, who hopefully will join the Greens soon enough. Should be obvious that these marches more than anything stem from the gross inequalities of wealth & power in 🇬🇧, plus the systematic humiliation & 'tyranny' of meritocracy (in Sandel's words)
Believe it or not, I had an old school friend on today’s marches in London. He sent me some photos from the crowd. We went to middle school together and grew up on the same Eastern District council estate in Northampton. I asked him why he was there. He gave me two answers:

Bad news for No10 as Paul Ovenden was leading member of the reality based community left in Downing Street. Presumably why he’s been taken out now in a factional hit job. Would anyone really enjoy their 8 year old leaked WhatsApps being made public?

Enjoyed chatting to @SteveRobson04 at @theipaper about @olivercoppard's risky and irresponsible decision to gamble public money reopening a failed airport during a climate emergency (£) 🛬 https://t.co/eZQPEjsiYX

It's abundantly clear this project makes no financial sense, and is entirely about "local pride" (i.e. pork-barrel politics). The upside for Oliver is that by the time it goes seriously wrong he'll have been booted out by Reform anyway, the way things are going

.@olivercoppard's Doncaster "Sheffield" Airport folly will be a national scandal when it inevitably goes bust. The reason he's doing it is because his own party's chancellor @RachelReevesMP humiliated him by cancelling the Midland Mainline electrification. https://t.co/s2cwJ1C0oc

🗞️A powerful report by @SamMGreg from @nowthenmag : 🕊️ Sheffield councillors have declared the city an “anti-apartheid zone” — voting overwhelmingly to condemn Israel’s genocide in Gaza and urging the UK to end arms sales to the apartheid state. #IMA
