Read the full memo to @SlackHQ staff from @stewart announcing his exit on @BITech, which per him is in no way related to Bret Taylor's departure, just "weird timing" etc: https://t.co/wbTQZlzmWm

Slack CEO Stewart Butterfield announced on a company Slack that he is leaving Salesforce in January. Read a full copy of the memo here.

Hello! I have some things to announce. 1) After ~4 years of leading @InsiderInc's cloud/enterprise IT coverage, I've taken a new role overseeing a newly-created Tech Analysis team, bringing more voice and opinion to our tech coverage. The great @SageLazzaro now leads Cloud team.

I periodically update this google doc that has almost every twitter meme template from over the years. If the ship goes down you can hold onto these overused jokes, as a treat https://t.co/aOM2Il1mcn

Emoji, ASCII, and Text Meme Templates I published this list of meme formats in 2019 for fellow social media marketers to easily reference and I still occasionally update it (at the bottom) in 2024....

I was just viewing a tweet that links to one of my AI articles and the algorithm yet again surfaced KyIe Rittenhouse underneath. This has been a daily occurrence since EIon took over. Why?

Here's another tweet Twitter now apparently views as tech news: Kyle Rittenhouse promoting his stuff and claiming he was censored by Twitter until Elon came along

Since Elon took over Twitter, every single tweet served to me under the "Tech news" topic has been either a Fox News or Newsmax article, or a pro Elon/Trump from a right-wing figure

The entire "Ethics, Transparency, & Accountability" team at Twitter is gone, if you want a sense for where the site is headed.

This has been the 5th tweet in my timeline every single time I've opened Twitter today. Aside from the fact that this isn't really "Tech news," why would I want to see the same article over and over again? I can feel the user experience crumbling

just so were all clear, Musk is firing half of Twitter's staff, including huge swaths of their content moderation capability, four days before opening up identity-confirmation-free verification to the whole website which will happen...the day before a national election.

charging for verification is how you get a lot of the legitimate accounts to drop their blue checks, and a bunch of spammers to buy them because it increases the chances they’ll be able to empty wallets

It never ceases to amaze me what Twitter will label as "funny tweets"

A reminder that redlining is still alive and well in 2022, now with Internet access crippled for poorer, non-white areas of the USA via @themarkup :

But the girl Caitlyne had been before May 24 was gone. In her place was a uniquely American amalgam, a child who didn’t know how to ride a bike without training wheels but did know about ballistic windows and bulletproof backpacks and the movement to ban assault weapons. (7/)
