Drought conditions persist across Georgia, with 87.4% of the state now covered by at least D2 (severe) conditions. The last time GA had at least this percentage of drought coverage was in October 2011. Rain on Sat/Sun is not expected to lead to significant drought relief. #gawx

Weather and climate disasters have cost the U.S. $3.1 TRILLION since 1980. #MAGA and the #Trump adminsitration would rather hide that from you, so oil companies can keep making record profits. #climatechange #climateaction #recap

La Niña persists, followed by a 75% chance of a transition to ENSO-neutral during January-March 2026. ENSO-neutral is likely through at least Northern Hemisphere late spring 2026. A #LaNina advisory remains in effect. #ENSO https://t.co/5zlzaZ1aZx

While I'm sure many of you have appreciated the warm temperatures, conditions are expected to swing back to near normal as we approach the new year. A cold front will mark the end with rain accumulations of generally less than 0.25" through Monday.

A 180! After a record hot Christmas across the Middle & parts of the South, a New Year’s Arctic Blast promises a Deep South Freeze by New Year’s Eve. Gonna be quite the shock to the system, with 20s into North FL, 30s Central FL, and this one may actually reach far South FL with

If you’ve ever heard that today’s climate change is natural—driven by changes in the Earth’s orbit, the sun, or even “space weather”—you’re not alone. These excuses show up everywhere, from comment sections of my Facebook page to dinner table conversations. On the surface, some

Saturday brings above-normal highs in the 60s, but big changes arrive behind a strong cold front on Sunday! 📉Expect the coldest temperatures of the season so far Sunday night-Monday morning with lows in the teens to lower 20s and wind chill values several degrees colder. #gawx

Tonight's sunset is the earliest of the year. Starting tomorrow the sunset will get a little later each day, just by a few seconds at first. The latest sunset of next year will be at 8:52:12 PM on June 29.

This is the probability of one inch or snow or greater through December 20 (from the European global model, ensemble output). Despite the cold/unsettled weather we see no chance of impactful snow for Alabama for the next couple of weeks. Keep in mind Alabama's peak snow season

There is a decent signal (40-50%) for above-normal temperatures for the December-February period. However, it's important to remember that periods of cold weather will occur even during an overall warmer-than-normal season🌡️ #gawx

Waves of rainfall are expected across the state through the weekend. 🌧️ Rainfall will likely total 1 to 3 inches across Middle/Central Georgia. This weather setup will promote cool conditions and further improvements to drought conditions across at least parts of the state. #gawx
