If the Swift Effect helps normalize marriage first, that is good for kids. A reality show reduced teen births so just imagine what sustained cultural esteem for marriage could do to re-normalize the family that puts children first.

Swift and Kelce’s engagement offers a limited but real alignment with what’s best for children: adults committing before kids. It could unravel, but one public choice is clear- the sequence. Marriage before children models the right first step and will shape private decisions.

If Taylor and Travis make commitment aspirational, even without preaching marriage first, it could move thousands of private decisions at the margins. Cultural esteem for commitment that raises the likelihood of marriage will bring good child-level consequences.

Even more, how are we running our own “PR firm” at home? Are we modeling commitment, sacrifice, and family? . Each of us has a platform to influence our kids, our neighbors, our church, and our extended family. How are we using it?
