The fact vastly more commentators in my old world, British popular journalism, attacked Pep Guardiola for his politics last week than Jim Ratcliffe for his politics this week, is depressing, alarming and a disgrace all at the same time.

What the fuck is all this shit about fucking Jimmy Carr as some sort of wise old men who people consult about the deepest problems of our time
Jimmy Carr echoing Peter Thiel with a line that lands hard: “Minus the screens from any room, we’re still living in the 1970s. Nothing’s happened in physics since 1972. String theory has not got us anywhere.” But the real shift? “Take the compute power of AI and point it at

Reckon Radders listens to @22GrandPod
Daniel Radcliffe tells Rolling Stone the best concert he went to was seeing Arctic Monkeys at Reading Festival: "Watching this band right on the cusp of becoming massive, where they were in a tent that was probably for a few thousand people... that was really cool."

AI is a consumer facing product, not a creative tool. The act of prompting, waiting, and watching is passive and consumptive. No one else wants to watch what you've 'made', even other AI users. It's like describing a crazy dream you had, it's meaningless and no one cares but you.
If "Hollywood is cooked" then so is everyone peddling/making these kinds of AI videos. The natural sales funnel for something like this doesn't sustain itself with just "creators", especially when they are self cannibalizing their own skills. It's going to cut right to the end

If the UK is ever to be considered a serious country again then the concept of losers consent needs to return. You cannot expect to change the prime minister or demand a general election every few days because you have political disagreements. That is not how it is meant to work.

Heartbreaking and blackpilling that something as culturally relevant as the Olympics wouldn't even pay real artists for real art anymore. Utterly despicable display.
The AI intro used in the 2026 winter olympics was an eye sore… wtf were they thinking. The face randomly changing every 5 secs and the animation errors were so out of place… had to record it to show how shitty it looks

This moment is largely brushed over in Monkeys history, but I’d say it’s arguably the most significant moment of their career. Pre-AM stratosphere, played to a televised audience of over a billion and fucking nailed it. Best band of the past 20 years, nobody comes close

The new documentary, Melania, cost $106million. On its opening day in the UK, it recouped £32,974 from 155 cinemas, in what Donald Trump is calling a triumph.

Most musicians at the end of their career play their early songs like covers (Bad), but Bob Dylan plays his early songs like covers (Good). Like standards. There’s this incredible impersonality to it, as if a someone else wrote them—because someone else did, ofc

In the week the great Hungarian film director Bela Tarr died, not a single one of his films was available to stream legitimately. Not even on bespoke art film services. Twenty years ago you could get them on DVD in a big HMV. This is not progress.

Any company I see using AI in campaigns I honestly don’t think they realise the harm they are doing to their brands. Might be cheap now, but once the rot sets in you’ll never shift it. Also, they’re all absolutely shite and it shows.
This new report shows the havoc AI is already wreaking in the creative sector. Evidence from 10,000 British creatives shows: - 58% of photographers have lost work to AI - 32% of illustrators have lost commissions to AI - 86% of authors say AI has reduced their earnings

I think of Geese as these precociously talented kids but they’re the same age Johnny Marr was when he left The Smiths. Just never ceases to amaze me how good Marr was.

They jailed him for being the first British pensioner to be a net positive economic contributor
🇬🇧 A British pensioner who won the lottery used his £2.4 million winnings to set up a drug lab. John Spiby, along with his sons, built a sophisticated lab to produce fake prescription pills in stables opposite his cottage in Wigan, Greater Manchester. The gang raked in £288
