Norfolk boy teaching in year 6 who spends most of his time waffling on about graphic novels and how you need more in your classroom.

Here is a link to a padlet with the start of a list for graphic novels suitable for primary schools. If you think I've missed any that definitely need to be on there just mention it in the comments and I'll put it on. https://t.co/SGuopAf9IN

This series has been an absolute rollercoaster of emotions and may have one of the best endings I’ve ever read. Absolute triumph from the very start to the very end. Furious that it took me so long to read, but well worth the wait. I’m now off to get this dust out of my eyes …

Keep forgetting to make sure everyone knows about this recent gem from @sarahsaxart A fantastic story that really will help readers embrace themselves but also ensure they don’t lose sight of the important people in their lives. Top stuff for UKS2.

Struggled to read consistently over the past few months, but Locke & Key is really helping me to break the slump. Raced through the first two and can’t wait to start number three tonight. So easy to see why this series is rated so highly.

Hey, all! Marvel Cosmic Invasion came out today, made by my pals @TributeGames . I had the pleasure of drawing all the cutscene art for it and I can’t wait to play the finished game.

We had the pleasure of @JimSmithStuff visiting this morning and it’s safe to say he was a huge hit. The children were absolutely loving his drawing tips and of course the many poo based discussions! Christmas Poo diary from @scholasticuk is the schools most popular book now.

Turns out Claude doesn’t care about books and being dragged into Christmas shopping. However, begging for any leftover lunch is a very different result.

Each week, our Year 5/6 Reading Buddies go and read empathy-rich picturebooks and talk about empathy with pupils in EYFS and KS1. Between them, they've created a bank of 20 questions to use as a starting point. Please feel free to download from my Padlet. https://t.co/JBuWKFD2sh

Inspirational day at the @EmpathyLabUK conference. Listening to researchers, authors, teachers, publishers and librarians talk about the importance of empathy and its links to reading reinforced how important Empathy Day is going to be for schools in the National Year of Reading.

Balanced book diet. Two new reads for the classroom and two new reads for me. Year 4 have been begging for Case Files after our visit from John Patrick Green in the summer, so can’t see it being in the shelf till 2026

Had this beauty delivered thanks to @scholasticuk Much like the rest of the series it’s another fast paced and ferociously funny book. Put it on the shelf yesterday and we’re already onto the third reader with another 10 waiting desperately!

I'm currently writing an article for @NEUnion's Educate magazine about the Year of Reading and how it's an enormous opportunity for schools. For you, what would make it a success? @MichaelRosenYes @whatSFSaid @MarieZarro97723 @Miss_K_Sunray3 @RuddickRichard

Received this delightful package from @MacmillanKidsUK for the upcoming Tiny Hercules. I’m only half way through but can already see that this is going to be a massive hit with LKS2, especially fans of Bunny v Monkey and the Investigators. Fast paced and packed with laughs.

A really powerful read about fasting and how it can affect people during Ramadan. I had three children in my class last year attempting to and this book would have been so helpful for them and more importantly others in the class who were trying to understand.
