Perhaps as a medical community over the years we have done society a huge disservice by leading everyone to believe that we have all the answers. The truth is, despite huge progress, we have very few of the answers.

I have spent many years trying to think about what it might be like to be a patient. And thinking about value in health and outcomes. Sure does focus your mind when suddenly you are the patient. 🤔.

Thank you to the person who encouraged me to read .First and Last Men, by Olaf Stapledon. It's thought-provoking. It is almost unbelievable that it was written in 1930. There are pages where it's of its time.But what a masterpiece of analysis on humanity. None escape scrutiny.

Yep. Truly a depressing decision.
Pure British misery in councils selling off allotments. Especially seeing as most city properties have no access to outside space. Really a sign of "the end of joy". No one is allowed hobbies anymore. We'll all just go to work then come home again.

Human beings are capable of overwhelming cruelty to others whose humanity they do not see, or in pursuit of revenge as a result of hurt that is unimaginable to most. Nobody is immune. Surely our greatest question is how to break out of this painful, destructive cycle.

After years and years of clinical and operational roles, there is a luxury of reflection. My first book is going to be published in the autumn. It describes the struggles and the aspirations we all have in healthcare. And hopefully a way forward. For now 😊.
