@travis4nh @NHHouseDems I’ve never heard this explanation. Thank you. I assumed—apparently wrongly—that the tax rate was fixed and the assessment caused the tax increases. So when people give tax rate comparisons across the state, it’s largely irrelevant for true comparisons on actual taxes.

5/. This gets back to my point: both parties are h̵y̵p̵o̵c̵r̵i̵t̵e̵s̵ (cough) inconsistent re "local control" in NH. No one cares about local control - it's just a rhetorical cudgel to be used when you dislike a top-down bill, and to be warded against when you like it.
