If I hit my own kid in the head five times, I go to jail. But when two children collide on a rugby field, the same damage happens – and we call it sport. We need to stop hitting kids in the head, because CTE can start before they even understand the risks https://t.co/bvzQmoZCaC

@AndrewW93733842 STUDY Head impacts trigger early neuron loss, inflammation,& vascular changes evolving into CTE plus other neuro conditions like MND, EOD, Parkinson's. safeguarding laws mandate proactive steps: govt, HSE, schools must enforce zero full-contact for U18s—rugby look other way.

Nearly 5 years of hearing rugby’s stock response ‘Player welfare is our number one priority’ but with no action. I’m sick and tired of their empty words while ex-players and families continue to suffer. Stop fighting and do what’s right on a human level @WorldRugby 🧠
“They're empty words. We want action now.” “It doesn't have to be a fight anymore.” Newsnight hears from ex-Rugby Union players who have called on rugby's governing bodies to abandon fighting ex-players who are suing them. #Newsnight

MND becomes the latest inconvenience to the CTE naysayers. Those who dismissed link between repeated brain trauma and early on-set dementia a decade ago make the same mistake with MND today. Talking about no proven link. The evidence is there 🧠🏉😢😡 https://t.co/38pRWT59KW

Pro rugby should not be advocating GRTP for anything under a mandatory 28 to 30 day minimum. This isn’t anything new… but it’s so important that you have all your best players on the pitch. It’s about winning not long term brain health right? 🧠😢😡🏉

2 explanations below @WorldRugby do you understand what independent means? Surrounding yourself with CTE deniers Paul McCory, Michael Turner, Rudy Castellani, Grant Iverson…..All Shills being paid or benefiting in one way or another for being CTE deniers 😡😢🧠🏉👀
Does anyone actually know how much money @WorldRugby have spent on truly independent research into neurodegenerative diseases? Ie without significant external influence or direction. Is there even an appetite to do so ?🤔🤷😢😡🧠🏉

@SmilerTurner @WorldRugby Agreed and now MND becomes the latest inconvenience for the deniers. Those who dismissed link between repeated brain trauma and early on-set dementia a decade ago make the same mistake with MND today. Talking about no proven link. The evidence is right in front of them

If you want to read more about neurodegenerative diseases from a truly independent professor including MND and its causation read below. Sports don’t want you to know the truth, so they don’t fund independent research. End #CTE 🏉🧠😢😡 https://t.co/LuhoWkn1HC

150 years of research ignored! Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" this simply means that a lack of proof for something's existence doesn't automatically prove it doesn't exist this applies to @WorldRugby

Here is a superb overview of current CTE thinking from one of a handful of true experts worldwide. Ann McKee states BU research unequivocally links repeat head trauma to CTE. CISG excluded the neuropathology studies from consideration in their most recent position statement.

When will this finally dawn on rugby as a eureka moment…….. Repetitive head trauma causes neurodegenerative diseases. I made this link 9 years ago when Cae looks his life. MND continues to be denied the same as CTE……sports attitude makes me sick😢🧠🏉 https://t.co/oVIEhX69SU

How many more of our rugby family have to lose their lives before @worldrugby sit up and listen? Every ex and current player is owed a duty of care by you. Stop the denial! Neurodegenerative disease is real and it’s destroying too many lives in the rugby family 😡😔😢🙏❤️🏉🧠

Interesting article below on Sweeneys position. Dr Barry O'Driscoll (WR medical advisor) who stepped down on the mishandling of concussions was scathing about Sweeney 5 years ago and insisting the games attitudes not changed since 2011. Deny deny Bill https://t.co/bWI6J6WmVw

So 9 years ago I made the link between repeated head trauma and MND. How many more years of denial must persist. When Cae took his life in 2016 joost van der westhuizen was diagnosed. I’m no scientist but the time for denial must end 😡💔🧠🏉😢

Even though there still is no test for #CTE those of us that think we live with this can tell . You can just feel it inside your brain slowly taking over and no matter what you do each day it’s takes over a little bit more of you .
