Vision loss in retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is not just about death of rods & cones--it also involves hyperactivity of downstream neurons, triggered by retinoic acid (RA). Hence RA inhibitors can revive vision in RP mice. Now online in Science Advances🧵1/15

President Trump and Elon Musk’s funding cuts to groundbreaking medical research do NOT Make America Great. That’s why I’m on the Senate floor introducing a resolution pledging support for NIH & asking for immediate passage. Watch.

PhD programs are pausing admissions to graduate school due to NIH indirect cost cuts. See the growing number of programs here: https://t.co/3j759AlhGL How is science supposed to advance with fewer trainees, less $ for research? This is devastating.

The letter is meant as a political show of force for Kamala Harris in a tight race with Donald Trump. The first presidential debate is less than a week away.

I had an interesting experience with Marjorie Taylor Greene today. Apparently, she got tired of hearing all the jokes about her being dumb. She decided to prove a point and went home one night to study all the world capitals of every country. Today at work she overheard myself
