Looking at social security in isolation, does nothing but stoke fear. The $$ are clearly being printed for every other government expenditure. We can't use fear to support a cut to one of the most important social programs in the country. Even means testing isn't worth it.
90 years of Social Security and the cracks are showing. The trust fund runs out by 2034, and for most workers, the return is NEGATIVE. Imagine saving 12% of every paycheck only to receive $2K a month. Time for personal retirement accounts!

Interesting theory, but going the extra mile is the right answer in most cases. .
People often think they’re being virtuous by always showing up for others (including for those who don’t show up for them), but it’s usually a stress response… an attempt to stabilise social approval when metabolism is low. Insecurity and ‘people pleasing’ are often intensified.
