Socio-economic status has a significant impact on factors that increase risk of respiratory disease, inc. lung cancer. Cancer associated malnutrition impacts treatment choice, effectiveness, complications and survival time. Dietitians have a key role in the management of this.

(16/16) Respiratory nutrition is varied & complex. Patients’ need specialist nutritional support for best outcomes. We need our MDTs to loudly support this. We have more questions than answers but will work together to start solving a small piece of this puzzle @BTSrespiratory

(15/16) We can’t be forgetting the importance of health inequalities within respiratory medicine. Therefore we want to try and ensure this group is accessible as possible for respiratory dietitians across the country to support to help their patients.

(14/16) Respiratory nutrition & bone health – are we focusing on this enough in lieu of use of steroids? Ensuring ample calcium via diet & adequate serum vitamin D levels is vital.
