A note to all care providers:.There is NO mandate to report someone you suspect (or know) has self managed their abortion. In fact, it's in violation of privacy laws, antithetical public health and human rights frameworks and causes harm. #stopcallingthepoliceonpatients #donoharm.

Patients’ lives should not be at the mercy of anti-abortion extremist lawmakers. Physicians have the knowledge and expertise to care for their patients and should be able to do so without fear. Josseli Barnica, Candi Miller, and Amber Thurman deserved better.
Josseli Barnica is one of at least two Texas women who ProPublica found have died after doctors delayed treating miscarriages, which are subject to the state’s strict abortion laws.

We don’t need an abortion policy that makes abortion technically legal. We need an abortion policy that invests in abortion, a policy that breaks down + prevents barriers to care. We need abortion policy that makes abortion possible for all people, everywhere, no matter what.

Abortion restrictions and bans not making sense is a feature, not a bug. They are about control and nothing else.
The notion that a pregnant minor might be too immature to choose an abortion but mature enough to be forced into unwanted birth and parenthood remains baffling to me.
