In 2020 I thought we’d have a long-term vaccine for 2-3 major Covid variants by 2025. Masks would be commonplace. What’s actually happening is why my brain feels broken.

How many times and in how many ways does America have to pronounce itself as what it is before people finally admit it to themselves?

I guess it’s worth pointing out that Peru had an electoral college system until 1896 and it replaced it because, by 19th century standards, people considered it betrayed popular will. Just pointing this out for no reason…

NEW: Multiple safety-net abortion clinics are weeks away from shuttering, with one telling me it could close by the end of the year. Even if Harris wins, more people could be denied abortions in short order. “Roevember” won’t save these clinics https://t.co/KNMvk4aKD6

Funding cuts have critical all-trimester facilities on the brink of collapse—and the ripple effects to public health could be profound.

Abortion laws with gestational limits and other restrictions are based on the idea that we need policing to keep "the wrong people" from "misusing" abortion services. That is some patriarchal bullshit. The path to true health and safety requires decriminalizing abortion.

If Harris becomes president, killing Dobbs is not the only way she could protect repro rights in the US. Roe was “the ultimate floor, and not the ceiling, of what we need for making abortion affordable and accessible for all who need it."

Thanks for your integrity and care, Susan. “Frazier’s story highlights how law enforcement will use any tool at their disposal to criminalize people for pregnancy loss."-@ifwhenhow's Farah Diaz-Tello People going through pregnancy loss deserve compassion, not cops.

When legacy outlets present both sides of a story to "let the reader decide" it falls on others to highlight key details: The cop who got a woman locked up for a stillbirth thought she was a bad mom. While she was in prison, the cop took the fetal remains https://t.co/5pv5I8lWyW

Allowing limits on the legal right to abortion normalizes anti-abortion sentiments. Why are we doing the devil’s work for them?

There's a reason why the World Health Organization has come out against all gestational limits on abortion care. They restrict essential healthcare, and the impact falls disproportionately on the most vulnerable.

Bans on abortion at any stage of pregnancy are unjust & arbitrary. 6-week bans are especially harmful—they prohibit abortion before many people know they're pregnant. Everyone deserves #AbortionAccess when they need it. More in our new analysis⬇️ https://t.co/0fDmtbdB4S

As @JessicaValenti says, abortion bans are designed to kill. So WHY are we compromising with these people?? Decriminalizing abortion completely is the floor. And it's what we urgently need to dig ourselves out of this nightmare.
