Avigail Idan has been freed. This little girl saw her parents murdered and had to crawl out from the under the bloodied body of her father. She spent 51 days in Gaza without any family and in that time, turned 4. So many people spoke up for her, including President Biden.

Over these past several weeks I've confirmed something I'd always felt: the world is full of wonderful people who are often unseen because they are not as loud as the more obnoxious ones. But they are everywhere, all around us, and knowing this is deeply comforting.

In Judaism rescuing hostages is a mitzvah (Pidyan Shevuyim) in part because being a hostage is viewed as worse than death. Yasher Koach to all those who helped make this happen. May we see all the hostages released as soon as humanly possible.

Today we gather with friends and family to give thanks. At the same time, Dafna and Ela are not in the first exchange. Whatever feels true to you, I invite you to offer a prayer or hold this Israeli family with Oregonian family in your thoughts ❤️‍🩹
