The most underreported news story in all of history. Even bigger than Taylor Swift, I promise you.
🏆📈🏆 Earth’s atmosphere just hit 427.93 ppm #CO2 on March 15, 2024 🏆 HIGHEST EVER daily average at MLO 🏆 Up a whopping 7.69 from 420.24 a year ago 🏆 @NOAA: https://t.co/nu6ktMn2wU 🌍 https://t.co/DpFGQoYEwb:

I love when accounts share screenshots of books they are reading. What are some great accounts to follow that frequently share screenshots of books, poems, etc?

Reassessment of the risks of climate change for terrestrial ecosystems https://t.co/lLOmvmMAwq Conradi et al show that within 50 years 33–68% of the global land surface will experience a significant change in how climate supports plant forms that define terrestrial ecosystems.

Sorry, but I dislike discussions that start ‘herbaria are like a library of plants’. They are not; libraries hold identical copies of books written by people. A herbarium is a sample of plant life on earth, their variation and their evolution by natural selection. Very different.
If herbaria are libraries, the type specimens they hold are original manuscripts: fragile and irreplaceable. Housing thousands of type specimens, the Duke Herbarium is a crucial world-wide scientific resource, threatened by a pervasive enemy: space. https://t.co/lE3ISEfFl8

And not a year later, y’all have decided to abandon these specimens. What a shame
.@DukeBiology researchers use preserved specimens from the Duke Herbarium as well as live plants growing in Duke Phytotron to better understand the impacts a warmer, drier world might have on plants

I've never been more embarrassed to be a double alum of @DukeU than today. To close Duke herbarium and disperse its 800K specimens is appalling. As a current herbarium director who started at Duke, the message is clear: Duke is no longer a global leader in biodiversity research

Every time I see one of these magnificent creatures dead on the side of the road, I think how humanity has failed the wild world. This poor cat. And too many others like her. From @SantaMonicaMtns On January 15, a deceased mountain lion was found in Calabasas on Las Virgenes
