On #sepsis with @LucaMarchetto4. #PedsICU patients have altered pharmacology. πŸ•œ Time-dependent antibiotics like beta-lactams subtherapeutic in 95% of patients with standard dosing. πŸ’Š Next steps could be continuous infusions & better therapeutic drug monitoring.#ESPNIC2025

Theme of #ESPNIC2025 - moving beyond #PedsICU syndromes, which are increasingly recognized as very heterogenous - to endotypes, with more precision on mgmt . Slide from Dr. Mark Peters

Great takeaways from #ESPNIC2025 Pharmacology session w/ @LRSorce. πŸ‘We have not looked at sedation and delirium with precision - flat dosing in studies when in reality very heterogenous. ‼️#PedsICU needs head to head comparisons of meds with IWS & #delirium as outcomes.

By adapting, clinical trial designs now reflecting qualitative methodology - iterative recruitment and simultaneous analysis responding to the data . Love this diagram describing the physiology of analysis from Dr. Mark Peters #ESPNIC2025 with re-evaluation of each throughout

Are adaptive clinical trials a reflection of a shift in epistemology of quantitative research? From positivism to a relativist recognition of true variation in how individuals experience disease and respond to treatment? .Reflections during #ESPNIC2025 Platform Trial session
