Happy #FreeThePeopleDay!! Thanks to your generous support, our 100% volunteer-led bail fund got over 400 people out of cages this year—but as this video explains, we’re running out of money and need more donations to continue our work. Please donate at https://t.co/LNKXHTXCn1!

The solidarity & support bail funds received in 2020 contributed to so much freedom, but every year since at least 10+ states file bills trying to regulate & criminalize them as punishment. These laws exist now in NY, TX, & IN, but so many more are a constant threat. 1/3

This horrifying bill just passed the Georgia House of Reps. It now heads to Gov Kemp. It requires people be held on bail for dozens of new, small-time charges—and criminalizes bail funds (after they bailed out many Cop City protesters, and more.)

The bill requires people be held on bail for dozens of new, small-time charges—and virtually eliminates charitable bail funds.

On January 9, VA delegate Wren Williams introduced House Bill 846 “Charitable bail organizations; certification and regulation by DCJS.” Although the title seems innocuous, this bill is a blatant attack on community-organized bail funds like @RVAbailfund and @757bailfund. (1/6)

As we've long expected, the State of Georgia today issued a RICO indictment against 60+ activists and others in their latest attempt at shutting down the right to protest in Atlanta. Three Solidarity Fund organizers are included in this indictment. [thread]

SCHR is reaching out to attorneys representing people named in the indictment & locating attorneys for those without counsel. Our current priority: ensure those indicted are released on bond, esp. given the horrendous culture at the Fulton Jail where 9 people have died this year.
