1/6 We (with @Goatslovepasta & @AnjaEggert42) here present an approach to study perception & cognition in ungulates that takes into account their heightened vigilance as prey animals & easily allows repeated testing of subjects without acquiring learning biases. #AnimBehav2023

(1/6)Is pigs’ response to novelty consistent across time? Numerous studies on pig personality had investigated this in farm pigs but none in family pigs. Yes, today's first take-home message: pigs are becoming popular as companion animals. #AnimBehav2023 @ferdinandyb

(1/6) I had the great honor and pleasure of working with #Atlanticpuffins for my master’s thesis at @MemorialU. The driving question behind my research was: what is the adaptive function of their conspicuously colorful bill? #AnimBehav2023

(1/6) Hello #AnimBehav2023👋I am here to deliver to you some first insights into the vocal repertoire of Etruscan shrews. Etruscan shrews are the smallest extant mammal by mass and a very interesting model in hearing research due to their small body and brain size.🐭

Since we have established that monogamous titi monkey duet contributions contain information about identity, heritability, age, and pair duration, we now investigate behavior and physio responses to playbacks of titi monkey long calls https://t.co/aKnDkIxpxL #AnimBehav2023 1/6

1. Vocalizations allow individuals that interact, to identify each other. Recognition of individuals, for pika, is vital to keep out invaders who pose a risk to food resources. Pika produce a small number of distinct vocalizations, including the short call. #AnimBehav2023

When are there too many in the neighbourhood? The effects of neighbours on vocal behaviour in birds Nearby animals modify the social context of communication. When density is high, animals may change their behaviour. We explore the effect of density on bird song #AnimBehav2023

Can giraffes make statistical inferences? The capacity to make inferences based on statistical information is widely thought to require large brains and is thus considered to be limited to few species such as great apes and parrots. #AnimBehav2023 (1/6)
