SHE DID IT AGAIN! Wisdom, the world’s oldest known wild bird, is back with a new partner and just laid yet another egg. At an approximate age of 74, the queen of seabirds returned to Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge last week and began interacting with a male.

I've enjoyed an inspiring visit to @michiganstateu these last two days, talking about vocal learning in sparrows, and sharing ideas about biology and ornithology. Thank you @mcgrawlabmsu and your great department!

Happy to be back @UWindsor to analyze colours in wrens. A new collaborative project with Dr. Doucet @steph_doucet in our lab @DMennill Friends and colleagues in the lab make this time even nicer. 🎨🐦⬛🇨🇷🇨🇦
A big international week in our lab: Dr. Vianney Cupiche Herrera from @UIMQRoo Mexico is here to build new collaborations. Dr. Natalie Sanchez @Nati_SanchezU is here to analyze new data from Costa Rica. Pedro Santos continues his stay as a visiting student from Portugal. 🇲🇽🇨🇷🇵🇹🇨🇦

Males sang at higher rates when the local density increased. Females showed a similar pattern in singing rate. However, the effect was marginal. Duet rate did no change. Local density modify the vocal behavior of birds (3/5)

Hot off the press: "Hormones and Reproduction of Vertebrates: Amphibians" edited by David Morris and Kristin Lopez. 🔥📙🐸 I'm excited that they selected my photo of Neotropical Yellow Toads for the cover! I took this photo in the biodiverse dry forests of Guanacaste Costa Rica.

Previous studies estimating bird deaths from building typically only involved carcass counts. But new research taking into account subsequent deaths in rehabilitation centers reveals that more birds may be dying in the days following a strike.
