Challenges in assessing #prostatecancer pattern 5 on biopsy: - differentiating poorly formed glands w/ill defined lumina from single cells with vacuoles - correctly identifying coagulative tumor necrosis (+ invasive vs. IDC-P 🤕) - whether rosette like spaces = pattern 5 #gupath
For our new #GUPath trainees🔬 GLEASON grading for #prostate cancer is based on PATTERNS (architectures) Several patterns are grouped in GRADES 3, 4 & 5 (1 & 2 are history 🙃) Gleason SCORE is sum of 2 grades Gleason score 6-10 = GRADE GROUP 1-5 Gleason pattern 5 examples👇
