Guys, this is a milestone! I wish I could have been there to see takeoff; but I live in Chicago. I wish I could have witnessed splashdown, but I don't live in San Diego. I wish I could have *gone with them*. But I will never be them; I can only admire them, and salute heroes.

Watch Perry Mason instead (it's better written). Set in California in the '50s-'60s, everyone has a gun, even—perhaps especially—the ladies. It's a complete nonissue; so ordinary as to be utterly unremarkable.

Famously one of our homeliest presidents was Abraham Lincoln, and one of our handsomest was Warren Harding. So let’s not go by looks.

Today, I taught Othello, and when we got to the scene when Othello accuses Desdemona of being a “whore,” I discussed the lines where Othello calls Emilia into the room: “You, mistress, / That have the office opposite to St. Peter / And keeps the gate of hell.” Ten years ago, I

Q: Give yourself a grade on making Michigan a place people want to live and work. Gov. Whitmer: I’d say an A. According to U.S. News & World Report, Michigan is a bottom ten state, ranking 43/50, and failing in every category.
