Who says science is conformist? Since I reviewed this dog’s breakfast of a Lancet paper I’ve have 3 junior scientists contact me (one of whom is actually affiliated with isglobal, an author affiliation) to tell me it’s clear the paper is flawed, but won’t probably won’t be

I have a theory that no one's been able to disprove. NIAID is Dick Cheney's horcrux, and since apparently no one can kill NIAID, Dick Cheney will live forever. QED.

What do we think of the view that Jay might not know how to run NIAID and needs a native informant like Taubenberger to wind down its worst aspects?
@HansMahncke Hans, from my interactions with him, I have confidence that Dr. Taubenberger is committed to biosafety, strict prohibition of dangerous gain of function work, and a new direction for NIAID. In this case, past associations do not indicate future inclinations.
