Blackburnian Warbler and Yellow-browed Warbler together at Geosetter Burn, Shetland last night. Don't think I will ever seen these together again in my lifetime! Still not come down from the high yet!

Lots more picture on my blog:
One of the 9 Bee-eaters in the field close to MacDonald's at Great Yarmouth this afternoon. Got lucky with this shot, left the crowd on the main road and then found a gap in the hedge, where ALL nine with perched. More pictures to come!

If anyone thinks my recent COVID-19 posts are rude or out order etc TOUGH - I work in the frontline NHS. I can see what’s coming. There is no second chance! We HAVE to follow the government guidelines! Not when you feel like it, NOW!
SO many birders I know have not followed the ‘local’ lockdown rule over the past few months - slapping pictures on FB, here & other social sites, when they are 10,20,30+/hundreds of miles from their village or town! Finally, after 3 months I will be birding outside King’s Lynn!
BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER at Geosetter Burn, Shetland after work this evening! I was lucky I got any pics at all in dull light. What a bird!! I was so emotional when I first saw this, I just couldn't believe it! Massive thanks to William Carter for finding this mega bird, just WOW!!!
WESTERN OLIVACEOUS WARBLER at Skibberhoull, Whalsay, Shetland. Found by John Lowrie Irvine! FIRST FOR BRITAIN! A WOW bird, but in dire light, rain and wind. A terrible ferry ride was an understatement 🤮!

@Tesco
for the beautiful and unexpected bouquet of flowers you gave to every NHS worker this morning at Tesco Hardwick, King’s Lynn - it brought tears to my eyes as it did several others. Very much appreciated.
@TeamQEH
THANK YOU!
Western Subalpine Warbler at Quendale, Shetland! What a day! Not as easy to photograph as the Eastern SW, but never seen both in one day before! Top first full birding day!

OMG! Several people thought there were 2 Red-flanked Bluetails in the village car park at Holme, well I can confirm there is!!! At 6.10pm I saw one in the middle of the back hedge whilst a Robin chased another off. First one still sat in bush! So 3 with obs bird?

My first Great Spotted Woodpecker in my new garden in Scalloway this morning - a guest from Jimmy’s long standing feeders next door. Note leaning RSPB feeder due to winds! Although it’s unusually still today.

The garden bird list has gone to another level today! A stonking male Hawfinch perched in my tree! Not long enough to get a picture though.

Mark Bradbury & his wife Tracey who re-found the WHITE-TAILED LAPWING at Ken Hill Marsh this evening - thank goodness! So, after original finder at 4pm I’m the 4th person to see this new bird for NORFOLK!
@RareBirdAlertUK
Eight people saw this bird tonight.
Setting up my bird feeders!! This RSPB feeding station is brilliant, bought this before I moved here. Unpacked it in a hailstorm. Brilliant long prongs to keep in ground, took me a while to get them in. Just had 50+ Starlings and a Robin drinking from the bird bath!

OMG!!!!!!! Just seen my first Orcas!!!!!!!! At The Knab, Lerwick at 10.40pm!!!! Loads of youngsters left a wedding to race here to see them - the entire experience was surreal!!!!!
Now off to my work leaving do after 14 years as a Therapy Assistant and 22 years in the trust! I have loved my time at QEH, but heading to NHS Shetland where it will be considerably cooler! Fab!

Holme Beach this evening - bliss, silence.... no people at all, no barking dogs just me, the sea and happy childhood memories of my little sisters and parents.
Glossy Ibis this evening with 9 Spoonbills, Green Sandpiper and Turtle Dove purring at Ken Hill Marsh, Snettisham Coastal Park, Norfolk. Monday 12th July 2021.
