Were the assisted suicide Bill to pass, the hospice movement would be changed out of all recognition. People naïvely think they'll have a choice, but – once morally inclined professionals opt out and charity-funded end-of-life care systems wither – there will be no choice at all.
Precisely and the legal fees will push hospices and care homes to the brink, so they’ll be forced to accept unless they are given legal protection on the face of the Bill (a) that beyond doubt they can adopt the policy they want (b) any public funds cannot require involvement

A few thoughts on this. 1. How is the government going to distinguish, in law, the difference between a zero-alcohol drink and a soft drink? If a non-alcoholic beer removes the word beer and calls itself a soda (or something), what is the government going to do about it? 2. I

One horrible incident that led to huge reform: Due to lack of equipment inspection, a 17 year old cabbage farmer named Cole Whitley, who happened to be holding a jar of mayonnaise, fell into a woodchipper and died instantly. In the wake of this tragedy, the Supreme Court passed

Drinking should be normalised. Gateways should be available. We want a country of functioning adults able to take responsibility for their own actions, not browbeaten joyless drones. The entire government is staffed with deranged authoritarian scolds with no grip on reality.
Health Minister Ashley Dalton: "There is some evidence to suggest that exposure to alcohol-like products, even if low or zero alcohol, can normalise drinking, and become a gateway to alcohol consumption" Story: https://t.co/2yXZJgO9oh

In my life I’ve known probably around 20 serious alcoholics and not a single one started with zero alcohol drinks. I’ve never even heard of it. They’re just legislating anything

It would be better if we scrapped that silly over-25s ID bollocks and went back to landlords turning a blind eye to the teenagers having a few beers and playing pool in the taproom. Maybe we wouldn't have quite so many miserable, lonely, socially inept young people that way.

The stability of the national psyche rests tenuously on the hope that some faction of the political establishment will break from elite consensus and show some desire and some ability to change things but frankly that’s not going to happen and every day that grows more obvious.

Paul McCartney's quality response to the interviewer's question about LSD. What made McCartney's response stand out was how calm and honest he was. He didn't joke, panic, or promote it. He simply answered in a measured way.

I am an AI thought leader. I make predictions. For a living. Let me tell you about 2025. I predicted it. All of it. None of it happened. That's not important. What's important is I predicted. In January 2024, I said AI would create 10 million jobs. It eliminated
