Exciting News: Our Paper is Published! 🎉. I’m thrilled to share that our paper, RIPK1 ablation in T cells results in spontaneous enteropathy and TNF-driven villus atrophy, is now officially published in EMBO Reports!

Interestingly, when we eliminate Caspase-8-mediated apoptosis, the mice are fully protected from the pathology. We also discovered that the microbiota plays a key role in driving intestinal elongation, while TNF is responsible for the villus atrophy. Check it out!.

We show that when T cells lack the TNF-signaling component RIPK1, mice develop small intestinal inflammation and intestinal elongation. This pathology mirrors what has been observed in humans with RIPK1 deficiency, making it crucial to understand how this condition develops.

A special shoutout to Jelle for leading much of the research and to Wolf for performing the final experiments and addressing the rebuttal. I'm incredibly proud to be the last author on this paper and to see how the story came together.

Our paper on thymic granulopoiesis is out!! The thymus can produce neutrophils during acute thymus atrophy when Notch is downregulated. We show that TL1A and IL-18 can synergise to induce extramedullary thymic granulopoiesis in a GM-CSF-dependent manner

Super excited to share our new paper! We show that T cells require the protein RIPK1 to survive after exiting the thymus to avoid TNF-mediated apoptosis. This was a great effort, Thanks to everybody involved! 🥳 #cdd

Super proud of this paper! We show that the thymus is more than a T cell producer, and during type 1 immunity can produce peripheral homing ILC1s!
