After an amazing 14 years Will & I have decided itโ€™s time to hang up our Butter Pats & retire. So we have put @abernethy_butter up for sale. This is a unique opportunity for someone to take over our highly successful business. Contact Tim Martin for more information 02891878956

I hate doing this, but I am desperate for sales, as currently a few hundred pounds short of being able to cover my bills this month. Please, if youโ€™ve ever thought about buying from me, now would be a great time. Even if all you can do is retweet this, Iโ€™d be so grateful (1/2)

OMG. @OxeyeRestaurant is doing 50% off for the whole of May for their tasting menu! If I was home I would be right there all over again โ€“ Sven's cooking is divine. Go go go!

Whether you fancy a midday splurge or a bite to eat at a local favourite, The Good Food Guide has got your back. The menus may be shorter, but the quality of the ingredients, the skill of the chefs, and the charm of the service doesnโ€™t change whether you eat at 1pm or 8pm.

I love the GFG Local Restro awards but using them to take a hatchet to longer menus or charging what it costs to stay in business is tone deaf, as is suggesting chronically understaffed restaurants revert to phone bookings. Really doesnโ€™t help any restaurant local or otherwise.

This is an interesting thread. I'm not a massive fan for paying sizable deposits (and in my line of work I do a lot of that) but I've understood it as a reasonable response to the problem of no-shows. Sven-Hanson's thread backs that up.

I visited Alchemilla this year & it is an asset to UK hospitality - a place & business to celebrate, full of passion, care & knowledge. Itโ€™s creating careers & skills to be proud of. But what does our government do? Kill it with VAT & unregulated energy costs. It is heartbreaking

I donโ€™t think food Twitter is listening. The same people who are sending levanter their shocked commiserations are yet to accept itโ€™s just the start. Diners, I repeat, if you want to eat out pester your MP, tweet about VAT & utilities, & please god shut up about restaurant prices

This is absolutely awful. But there wonโ€™t be a single person running a hospitality business right who doesnโ€™t feel the same pressure pending. The sector is going to fold & no one is listening.

About last night... @Svenhansonbritt made us spread whipped cream on smoked bread and somehow made it sound healthy? Exceptional time at @OxeyeRestaurant, where the tasting menu is obvs the main event but the cutlery is a total delight.
