Beyond proud to have my research featured in @DrGaryFuller's latest #PollutionWatch piece for @guardian. It's been a rough week in #PhDlife... moments like this help remind me why I do what I do. Big thanks to @OxfordDemSci @SociologyOxford & @melindacmills @ridhikash07 #PhdChat
Countless reports have concluded that the public need more #airpollution information. New study by @kaylloquial found 54 different on-line services in London. Maybe we don't need more, we need better. So what next? My latest piece for @guardian. https://t.co/KhgDYbbdaN

Loads of interesting, inspiring and useful perspectives here, going beyond the normal paradigm of using small #airpollution sensors and public engagement.
A captivating thread by @dudman_karl chronicling the social research programme we developed for the @DefraGovUK funded @OxAirProject, highlighting key findings + ways to democratise knowledge production for more effective #AirQuality governance!

Epic example of a digital participatory approach to democratizing #AirPollution knowledge & governance! Quite similar to our @OxAirProject @OxfordCity Map of Anecdotes! Looking forward to hearing lessons learned & continuing to move public engagement beyond mere surveys/tickboxes
Today we’ve launched our new #CleanAir #Lambeth page, for local residents & workers to share their views on tackling #AirPollution across #Lambeth. Feedback received will help inform our new #AirQuality Action Plan, which we will publish later this year. https://t.co/R9WEvbTmQJ

The OxAir Project featured a ‘social research’ component, where air quality managers, data scientists, academic researchers & a demographically representative group of Oxford residents formed a ‘competency group’. Detailed findings are described here 7/9:

Using sensor systems in controlled, fixed locations gave good spatial distribution information about pollutant concentrations. This finding was taken up by the @OxAria_UK project, which explores impacts of COVID-19 public health measures on air & noise quality in Oxford City 6/9

The sensors used throughout the project required significant time inputs and training for non-technical users to familiarise themselves with how the sensors operated. Even after extensive training, sensor reliability remained an issue. 5/9
