- Legends was only canon to GL when it suited him. It was never formal canon
- Nothing was erased - all those stories are still there to enjoy
- George frequently cherrypicked from EU
- Disney created its own canon to ENSURE continuity (what an odd accusation)
10 years ago today, Disney relegated the Expanded Universe to Legends. They fed the misconceptions about Canon and mistreated the long term/hardcore fans. They erased the Lore for creative freedom but simply wanted to cherry pick from better written stories. They hate continuity.

GL has always been very open about the influences that made SW:
- Joseph Campbell
- adventure and sci fi serials of the 30s
- Kurosawa
- Dune
- Arthurian legend
- Far Eastern mysticism
- many, many more
SW was very much more than just a sum of its parts.
The realization that Star Wars is just a worse version of Dune is actually depressing me. I’ll just be sitting here and then realize “that’s why Luke grew up on a desert planet” or “that’s why the Jedi use blades” or “Darth Maul is just Feyd Rautha” or “the ‘Emperor’ huh?”
